My Story

I from Hualien, and I am bold.

Since I was little, I decided to study foreign language and literature. And I still stick to my dream and study in National Chung Cheng University.

During the years in university, I have attending many activities.

Firstly, I became a counselor in a winter camp that held for elementary school students in my hometown. I learnt a lot form this experience that I was able to lead and guide those children and make them follow me meekly. Also, I understood how to play with them and participate classes.

Then, I thought I have to step out from my comfort zone so I attended a summer camp held by CCU CSIE (computer science and internet engineering ). In the camp, I was a teacher who had to go on a stage in front of one hundred high school students. I was stressed out since I knew nothing about coding. I paid a lot of effort, searching and asking and learning. Again and again, I understood the content and was ready to teach. Teaching on stage was horrible but I thought I had a good composure on stage. These were the results of practices.

With these camp experiences, I went to a training of Standard First Aider. I thought it was worthwhile that I could understand how to help people in emergency.

Next, I had interest in translation, so I became a translator of the subtitle in a play in my department. I had to understand all the plots and the characters’ personification, so I could put a better word when translating. I learnt to work in a team, which we had to cover one another when playing the subtitle when performance started.

Again, I still liked to try new thing and to make break throughs. I attended a competition in CSIE department. We had to solve problems with coding, which I had learnt in the formal camp and classes. I was not afraid of frustration, instead, I was calm and solved many questions that we even exceed two groups majored in CSIE.

Then, I also developed my interest. I liked to take photos, so I put effort into the technic. My photo of the sunrise was selected in a exhibition and I thought it was a motivation for me to keep moving toward things I liked.

Translation, however, I decided to become a volunteer. I was a volunteer worker in World Vision, and I translated letters from Taiwanese to children who spoke English. I was touched by those letters, which made me want to attend more volunteering works. And this also helped me improve my translate skill a lot.

Last, I plucked up the courage and applied for a translation job. In this experience, I had to translate for an exhibition, and the topic was about bamboo. I figured out several terms to describe the products, and I thought it helped me a lot that I understand how a formal translation work is like.

To conclude, I always try new things. If there is a chance, there am I. I think that I am full of energy and courage to keep exploring this world.
